An introduction to dramatic storytelling and performance. Students will develop an understanding of the fundamental concepts of acting, 比如性格, 的关系, 客观的, 战术, 和节奏, along with incorporating collaboration and an appreciation for the art of acting. Units include pantomime, 即兴创作, 配音, 剧本创作, 现场工作, 独白, 试镜, and script analysis. Memorization for 现场工作 is part of this course.

This class is an exploration of American 音乐剧. Students will study the work of the actor/singer/dancer and use their gained knowledge to develop as performers. Students will prepare and present musical theatre pieces as soloists (optional) and members of small groups and larger ensembles. Students will prepare material for class presentation and critique. There will also be a focus on the musical audition process, musical theatre history, and repertoire. The class will participate in a culminating showcase performance at the end of the semester. No dance or singing experience is necessary. This course includes memorization for 现场工作, dances, and songs.

This is a one-semester class that culminates in the One-Act Festival in January. Building on the techniques and lessons learned in Intro to Theatre 代理, the Actor’s Workshop will focus on character and monologue work to further the student’s growth. Students also get to explore stage combat basics and perform short scenes incorporating these skills.  意图, 策略, 战术, and motivational behavior will be explored and applied to final monologue presentations in classical and contemporary works. Memorization for 现场工作 is part of this course.

In this introductory design class, students will learn about the 照明 和声音 equipment used in live productions. This class is a hands-on learning experience where students will hang and focus 照明 instruments and learn to set up sound systems. Working in small groups, students will complete projects in theatre design.

This course is designed to introduce students to the art and craft of scenic design. Students will learn basic scenic construction and painting techniques used in a professional scene shop, while also developing design skills through sketches and model making.

This course will allow students to take their design skills to the next level! Students will get to work in teams to design and build sets, 服装, 照明, 和声音, while also learning about stage management. At the end of the semester, this class works with the Actor’s Workshop class to present their plays on stage for the One-Act Festival!
